SZ: Ok Rolf, I think I hit your with enough music questions.
So lets do some fun questions:
SZ: What other outside interests do you have?
My Family.
SZ: Favorite movies? I like some science
fiction stuff as well as comedy!
SZ: Favorite actor and actress? Michael Douglas
and Cher (SECRET: I love Cher).
SZ: Favorite food and drink? Believe it or
not free-of-alcohol-BEER.
SZ: Favorite book? I wish I had more time to
read. I guess it's years ago when I read my last non music-related book.
SZ: Favorite song? Too many.
SZ: Favorite color? Black and Blue.
SZ: Married or single? Married.
SZ: If you could form a rock or metal super group what fellow
musicians would you want in the band?
The EMPIRE guys!
SZ: What sports do you enjoy or take part in?
Enjoy Formula 1.
SZ: Is your guitar playing, touring, recording your full
time job, or do you do that along with other things to supplement your
income?
I give lessons and play in a cover band. No other job! I wish I could
play more (live and studio) rather then giving lessons - but in the moment
I have to.
SZ: So how do you manage so many projects at once?
Working and working!
SZ: I know how that feels. I read your bio at your website.
How did you go from Plastics Engineer to rock star?
I hated plastics, they smell awful and I never really wanted that.
I always wanted to be a musician and one day there was a decision.
SZ: Good call on your part. So along with that, I read you’re
into recording?
I understand you have a good size studio at your disposal at home?
How did you become interested in doing that aspect of musical process?
That really interests me a lot. I built a recording studio now in my
new house with up to 48 Tracks of digital recording and use the new Tascam
MX 2424, a great machine (I'm not sponsored by them). I have a recording
booth for recording my stuff. For guitar recordings I use at the moment
a Sennheiser MD 421. Old mic, but works great.

SZ: Well Rolf I'm real sorry this interview had to end.
It was a pleasure talking with you and I think you've gained some new
fans from it. Thank you again for your time. Lastly, any closing
words, or things that come to mind that we may have over looked in the
course of this interview?
I enjoyed answering your great and interesting questions! Thanks for
the interview. All my Best. ~Rolf
SZ: Well shred heads there you have it. Rolf Munkes is a
German guitarist that plays straight melodic rock from the heart. Its
great to see more guitarists gaining exposure around the world.
Rolf has some amazing chops and knows how to write a soulful melody line. I
highly suggest you visit his website and lion music to learn more about
his unique playing style. Its say to say I'm Empire's biggest fan thanks
to Rolf. Empire's debut cd is available at www.lionmusic.com for instant
online purchase. Again we'd like to thank Rolf for taking time from his
work infested schedule for this deep interview into his world of music,
playing and life. Until next time, this is Nick signing off.
