Britt Burch "Speedivision"
USA
Britt Burch is a young guitarist from
the United States who brings in heavy metal guitar riffing and combines
all out shred fests! He also has great chops and song writing skills.
Britt writes his instrumental songs in normal rock format, so you never
get lost in a maze while listening to it. Track one "Afterburner"
is an all out power metal riff fest. I don't know about you, but that's
how I like my riffs. His lead melodies throughout the song are super melodic
and you'll be humming along with every note. Britt has a great ear for
writing catchy metal songs. The best part of this song is the main melody
line, it rocks! There are some cool arpeggios at 03:59, as well as plenty
of smoking fretboard shredding. Song two "Alien Invasion" opens
with some complex riffing that Britt describes as "the total death
metal attack," and that's for sure. The guitar work in this song
is brutal! His leads fit perfectly to to the vibe of the song, fast and
furiously. "Roadrunner" is a very melodic track that has plenty
for tight leads and some of the best palm muted run ideas I've heard in
a long time. This is defiantly one of my favorite tracks from the cd.
"S.V.R.O" is a very upbeat and mega melodic number that really
shows Britt's ability to play with total soul. The main repeating lick
is beautiful and perfect in every way. The line just weeps with guitar
soul. I really enjoyed this song and it too is another personal favorite
from the demo. This song also displays a very diverse use of technique
by the young shredder. Hats off to you Britt. "She's so Heavy (Metal)"
starts off with some great clean guitar, then breaks into some wild medium
speed guitar antics including sharp bends, trem bar tricks and harmonics.
This track defiantly stands out from the rest and shows that this guy
can apply lots of different styles throughout a song. He utilizes blues,
neo-classical, and metal soloing all in a nice little package. Lastly,
"A Minor" brings the album to close with a soothing nylon guitar
piece. If your a fan of classical nylon string guitar tunes then this
is right up your alley. Britt shows a different side of his playing in
this song and I really felt that this piece was a great representation
of his playing overall. Looking back, Britt did a great job on his first
demo attempt. I think that his playing and song writing was good and he
played with lots of heart. Its awesome to see young players that still
take an interest in playing good and Britt does more than that.
